Top 10 Coding Competitions Around The World

As a programmer myself, I know how important it is to see where you stand at your logic building capabilities and how good you are with your programming skills. And, Coding competitions are the best way to judge yourself as a coder or a programmer. Many competitions are organized or sponsored by some big shot companies every year like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, TCS, HP, Codechef, etc. These competitions are open for everyone and Programming languages like C, C++, Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, etc. are supported. So, here are some of the top coding competitions happening around the globe. I have provided links to the registration page to the corresponding competitions at  

 

1) Google Code Jam | Google

About – Code Jam calls on programmers around the world to put their skills to the test by solving multiple rounds of algorithmic puzzles. The online rounds conclude in the World Finals, which rotates globally. In addition to being challenging and fun, Code Jam problems can help you develop your coding and programming skills.

 

2) Facebook Hacker Cup | Facebook

About –Started in 2011, the Hacker Cup is Facebook’s annual worldwide programming competition where hackers compete against each other for fame, fortune, glory and a shot at the coveted Hacker Cup. In the Hacker Cup, programmers from around the world will be judged on accuracy and speed as they race to solve algorithmic problems to advance through up to five rounds of programming challenges.

 

3) SnackDown 2016 | CodeChef

About – SnackDown is a multi round programming competition open to anyone with a knack for programming. Hosted by CodeChef, the competition was started in the year 2009.The aim with SnackDown is to pit the finest computer programming brains from different parts of the globe against each other, under one roof in India. SnackDown also provides a unique opportunity for the top programmers of the world to get a flavour of India and at the same time let the Indian programmers meet top global programmers in flesh and bones. The competition is open to everyone including the middle and high school students as well as working professionals, virtually having no formal eligibility criteria.

 

4) The ACM-ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest

About – IBM sponsors this contest. ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (abbreviated as ACM-ICPC or just ICPC) is an annual multi-tiered competitive programming competition among the universities of the world.
ACM – ICPC is one of the world’s largest programming contest conducted annually. The contests majorly involve algorithmic programming problems. Regional competitions lead to World level Finals. Supports only two languages i.e. C/C++ and Java.

 

5) CodeVita | TCS

About – TCS CodeVita is a programming competition. It’s TCS way of attracting young impressionable college students to adopt this culture and experience joy of programming.

6) VK Cup | Codeforces

About – The VK Cup Championship is an open computer programming competition that is held by VK, Codeforces and Saratov State University. VK is the largest European social network with more than a 100 million active users. The Championship Final Round will be held in July in St. Petersburg. Top 50 contestants of the Round 3 will be invited to the Finals, with trip expenses covered by the organizing committee.

 

7) IndiaHacks: Programming | Hackerearth
